This week’s tip is from Olympian, Louis Zamperini. Zamperini competed in the 5000M in the 1936 Olympics and later was a Japanese POW during World War II. His story was told in the book & movie, Unbroken.
Zamperini’s story is amazing. He endured a tremendous amount of pain in his life. The pain he suffered while running was nothing compared to the pain he encountered at the hands of his WWII captors. The link below is an excellent article on life lessons drawn from Zamperini that appeared on the website, Art of Manliness. http://www.artofmanliness.com/2014/06/26/4-lessons-in-manliness-from-louis-zamperini/
Zamperini’s story, like his quotes, are framed by pain and sacrifice. Yet, through his faith in Christ, he learned to overcome it all.
Father’s Day is just under a month away and my novel, The Blue Team, would make a great gift. Laura Hillenbrand, the author of Unbroken, also wrote Sea Biscuit. Over her career she has sold more than 10 million books but early on sales for Sea Biscuit weren’t so brisk. I recall reading a story that she was concerned about the lagging sales then Father’s Day rolled around and she sold around 14,000 books. The rest, as they say, is history.
Want to help me duplicate the success of Sea Biscuit? I’m offering The Blue Team at a 25% discount for Father’s Day. You have to order at http://www.lulu.com to get the discount.
