I traveled to Houston for the Final Four to promote my book, The Blue Team.  While there I was able to get the book into the hands of a number of coaches, broadcasters, and staff at organizations like Athletes in Action, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Center for Fathering, etc.

With Coach Jarvis at Final Four smaller With Coach Lonergan at Final Four smaller

My former coach at GW, Mike Jarvis, was there promoting his book as well as lending support to me. He gave me a great endorsement, part of which is on the back of the book.  Current GW head coach, Mike Lonergan, showed up with his family the morning after winning the NIT!  GW won the game at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night, drove down to DC afterwards, then on Friday morning Lonergan and his family flew to Houston.  He hadn’t slept in a while in this photo.  For some reason I look more tired than him!

With Lorenzo Romar at Final Four smaller With Spencer Tillman at Final Four smaller

Lorenzo Romar, on the left, is the current head coach at the University of Washington.  He played & coached for AIA back in the 80’s & 90’s after his career in the NBA.  I told him about my book project over a year ago and has been enthusiastic in his support.  FOX Sports broadcaster and former NFL runnings back, Spencer Tillman, on the right, did an excellent job emceeing AIA’s Legends of the Hardwood breakfast.  We got a chance to talk a bit after the event.  Turns out he is an avid reader with a library of over 3,000 books.  I can’t wait to hear what he thinks of The Blue Team.

With Dickey V at Final Four 1 smaller With Ed Schilling at Final Four smaller

The scintillating, superb, stupendous, and awesome Dick Vitale, or Dickie V, was there in Houston.  He was calling games for ESPN back when I played… and that was a long time ago.  On the right is current UCLA assistant coach, Ed Schilling.  I felt like I’d known Ed for 30 years but in fact had just met him in Houston.  He was good friends with my former GW teammate, Kenny Baer.  Every night on the road Kenny, or KB, would call Ed, or the Chill.  They’d talk for about an hour every night!  Ed is originally from Indiana so I have a feeling he will love The Blue Team.
