The George Washington University Colonials didn’t make the NCAA tournament this year, but they’ve still had a big impact on March Madness.  With their win over Florida the other night in the NIT Quarterfinals, GW is now head to Madison Square Garden for the semifinals.

GW wins in NIT gw wins vs. fl

I went to a few NIT games at Madison Square Garden back in the 80’s.  It might not be the NCAA Final Four but it’s still a great atmosphere and it’s still a Final Four.

In addition to GW’s run in the NIT, a few GW Colonial alums have made their mark in the big dance.  My former teammate and 88 graduate, Joe Dooley, is the head coach at Florida Gulf Coast.  They won their conference tournament and their first round game before falling to #1 seed, North Carolina.  82 graduate, Mike Brey, is the head coach at Notre Dame.  His Fighting Irish are in the sweet 16 and looking to continue their run to the NCAA Final Four.

I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t already read the book, but in The Blue Team, GW makes a Cinderella run during March Madness.  The Blue Team is about far more than basketball: it’s about father/son relationships, the key to overcoming our greatest adversary, and the awesome love & power of Christ.  The Blue Team is perfect compliment to March Madness.  Order your copy today.
