Thanks to the miracle of social media (I finally broke down and joined Facebook) I was able recently to re-connect with my old George Washington University head coach, Mike Jarvis.
Coach Jarvis is now out of coaching after spending 40+ years in the profession. He lives in Florida, does some TV work for FOX and is writing a book! His book, which he is self publishing like I am, will take a look back over coaching career and tie in the stories with biblical principles. It’s been nearly ten years since Coach Jarvis gave his life to the Lord and his book is a testament to his life change. He’s shared a bit of the book with me and I think it’s going to be a huge success. I can only hope my novel will sell half as well!
I’ll try and update the progress of his book, along with mine, on this site.
Speaking of my novel, The Blue Team… I received some very blunt but much needed constructive criticism recently. Let me tell you, if you’re going to write, you better have thick skin! So, I got a lot of revising to do and my stated goal of a March 1st release date is looking rather difficult. But as Coach Jarvis said, “it will be done in God’s time.” My reaction: he’s right… and you don’t need to pace a sideline to be a coach.
