The movie, Unbroken, is scheduled for release this Christmas day. Its an appropriate day for the debut of a movie about an amazing man who gave his life to Christ. Louis Zamperini’s story is amazing. A track star early in life, he ran in the 1936 Olympics. Then he experienced unspeakable horrors during WWII. An article appeared today regarding Zamperini’s faith and how it is handled in the movie.
Zamperini didn’t become a Christian until after his WWII experiences. He had to have an incredible reservoir of toughness and determination to persevere while floating on a raft for 47 days or being repeatedly beaten in a POW camp. Was it his athletic training? As Zamperini says, that was certainly part of it. More on that tomorrow.
