I love seeing professional athletes who take time to give back.  They are pampered much of the time and many act like it.  But Washington Wizards guard, John Wall, recently befriended a young girl with cancer.  6 year old Miyah Telemaque-Nelson lost her battle with Burkitt’s lymphoma this week.  Wall was asked about it after last night’s win over the Boston Celtics.

ESPN is in the midst of its Jimmy V Week for cancer research.  If you’ve never watched Valvano’s 1993 speech, do yourself a favor and watch it.

Valvano talks about having your emotions moved to tears each and every day.  It was the first thing that came to mind when I heard John Wall’s interview last night.  Hopefully Wall can continue to provide support and encouragement for Miyah’s family as well as continue to use his high profile position for worthy causes.
